Backyard
Ultra Nepal 4.0 (Pokhara Aviram)
One loop. Every hour. On the hour. There’s no finish line waiting for you โ just the next lap, and the one after that. You stop when you can’t go on, or when everyone else already has.
๐ Racing the same day: 7K Fun Run and 7K Fun Night Run โ NPR 850 entry.
Last one standing wins
Backyard Ultra is a loop-based endurance format: every runner completes a 6.706km (4.167mi) lap within a 60-minute window, then waits for the next lap to start on the hour. Finish early and the rest of the hour is yours โ eat, hydrate, sit, sleep if you dare.
There’s no set distance and no scheduled finish. The race simply continues, hour after hour, until every runner but one has failed to complete a lap in time. That last finisher is the winner โ whether the race lasted four hours or forty.
It’s less a test of raw speed than of pacing, patience, and the will to keep lacing back up when your body is telling you to stop.
What you’re signing up for
Backyard Ultra rewards runners who can think as clearly in hour twenty as they did in hour one. Here’s what defines the format.
4.167mi / 6.706km per loop
Every runner covers the same marked course, every hour, for as long as they last.
60 minutes, no extensions
Miss the top of the hour and you’re out โ no partial credit, no grace period.
No fixed distance or end time
The race isn’t over until only one runner can still complete a lap on time.
The clock is your resource
Finish a loop in 45 minutes and the other 15 are yours โ eat, hydrate, change, recover.
No outside assistance
Beyond medical or official race personnel, you’re on your own between loops.
Mental before physical
Most runners who drop out still could have finished one more loop. Most.

This is also how Team Nepal gets picked
Backyard ULTRA Nepal 4.0 doubles as the selection race for Team Nepal at Big’s Team World Championship 2028 โ a Satellite World Championship where Team Nepal races from Pokhara while teams from more than 72 countries compete simultaneously from their own countries. Every loop you complete here is also a case for your place on that start line.
